The DPR comparator confirms this, and particularly so at higher ISO.

There was an interview with the Japanese engineers, and they basically said the DIGIC 7 processor in the Mk II has 14 times the power of the DIGIC 6 and gave them the latitude to significantly improve stills. The comparator on this site shows significantly better sharpness, contrast, and detail than the G7X mainly due to the improved processor on the MK II. I shoot nearly all JPEGs so that's my primary interest. The G7X Mk II would be the perfect complement to the FZ1000В and would replace at least two other cameras. It's about 30% of the weight and bulk of the 70D kit. The FZ1000 kit fits nicely in my wheeled airline carry on. The 70D kit was really too big and heavy to lug on flights, so it only traveled by car. The FZ1000 easily beat my 70D, even with the macro lens, and the FZ1000 does everything I wanted to do with the 70D, So I no longer have the 70D. I did not think the G7X (first version) was better than my G15, and certainly not for the cost. My smaller cameras (S95, G15) all use smaller sensors and so I'm seriously thinking in terms of the G7X Mk II.

I used a Canon 30D for years but now I'm using a series of Fixed Lens Cameras (FLC's), topped by the Panasonic FZ1000 with a 1' sensor. So if that is your preferred focal range and don't need faster aperture zooms or primes, it can be a liberating camera. A 6D and 24-105mm F4, 80D/760D 15-85mm F3.5-5.6 isn't going to fit on a belt pouch or your jacket pocket. That said, it does sport a 24-100mm F1.8-2.8 lens in a fairly compact package. The new kit lens are surprisingly good on DSLRs. I think it would be more fair to compare it to the older kit lenses. In certain settings, it can take on a soft glow and general smudginess. If you're going to set your standard as Canon L lenses, the G7x will fall behind in sharpness. I found the colours to go a bit reddish indoors. The newer APS-C sensors have improved a bit so that will widen the gap in their favour. Compared to my 6 year 7D mkI or my Olympus EM1, I find the larger sensor files have more leeway.

The noise shows up quickly when pushing files but found it comfortable to ISO 1600.

There are the usual jpeg engine tweaks but I am doubtful there is any difference in the RAW files.Д«ased on that, the G7x has pretty good dynamic range. The mkII has an updated processor which brings improvements in burst, autofocus. They have the same lens and sensor as the G7x mkII. I trialed the G5x for a month before giving it to my mother as a better than cell phone camera. I had the G7x mkI for over a year before selling it. I don't like the idea of carrying a heavy DSLR + lenses so i'm wondering how will the G7X Mark II will compare with modern mid range DSLRs in terms of image quality. I want to go back to photography and i'm considering buying either a new modern DSLR to match my lenses or the G7X Mark II. I have a 10 years old Canon dslr with good optic ('L' series lenses).
